Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. Azerbaijan is considering opportunities to participate in the production of oil and shale gas in the South African Republic.
APA reports quoting ITAR-TASS that Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov issued such a statement at the joint press briefing with Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the South African Republic Maite Nkoana-Mashabane in Pretoria.
"We are considering various options. We are also conducting negotiations to contribute to the development of great energy potential of the South African Republic,” said Mammadyarov.
Mammadyarov added that Azerbaijan will also train oil experts from South Africa.
He said that there are high-level economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the South African Republic. The trade turnover between the two countries reached $ 100 million in recent years.
Maite Nkoana-Mashabane emphasized the cooperation in the fields of energy, defense, shipbuilding, trade and education.
The foreign ministers signed a memorandum on regular political consultations.
