Baku. Mubariz Aslanov - APA. “The fact that Azerbaijan is the only country to unconditionally sign an agreement with the European Union as a partner at Vilnius summit shows strong will of our state and President,” Deputy Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), MP Siyavush Novruzov told journalists, APA reports.

He said that the European Union is going to become a single state system, so some states are joining the organization by renouncing part of their independence. Azerbaijan has chosen to operate independently with NATO or the European Union not as a member, but as a partner country. This balanced policy was founded by Heydar Aliyev and is successfully continued by Ilham Aliyev. It is the result of the decisiveness of Azerbaijan’s President that we pursue independent policy even in such moments. Most countries like us openly state that they are undergoing pressure and can not withstand this pressure. We are facing pressure three times as much, but we are not afraid. We represent the interests of our people, state basing on the equal-right partnership."

Touching on the reports that after the Vilnius summit Azerbaijan has become inclined to Russia, Novruzov said it was wrong. “It is not Azerbaijan, but Armenia that is inclined to Russia. Except Armenia we have comprehensive relations with all states, including Russia. Azerbaijan does not admit dictation from big states. We are fully independent,” he said.
