The statement says Azerbaijan and NATO are holding political dialogue and strategic awareness on energy security, exchanging experience on protection of significant energy infrastructures and cooperating in the spheres of training and education.
The Mission mentioned that basing on its rich experience in March, 2008 Azerbaijan took over chairmanship of informal working group within the framework of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) Colloquium on Energy Infrastructure Security, seminars and meetings are being held within the group and experience is exchanged in relevant sphere.
As regards the measures taken for protection of energy projects in the region, the Mission said that the projects are implemented within the cooperation with NATO Emerging Security Challenges Division and Science for Peace and Security Programme and the recent successful project was NATO’s partnership conference on security challenges in Baku on May 23-24, 2013: “Currently, NATO is working to support protection of energy infrastructures, to increase energy efficiency in military sphere, to hold intelligence and strategic awareness, consultations, dialogues with energy security institutions, to strengthen public diplomacy efforts on training, education and energy spheres”.
