It is praiseworthy that they create positive impression about our country,” Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said at the first meeting of the Azerbaijanis working for international organizations, APA reports.

He said in the 90s it was impossible to hope that the Azerbaijani citizens would hold posts at the international organizations.

“The number of the Azerbaijanis working for international organizations is not satisfactory. The contacts of the Azerbaijani citizens with one another create broad opportunities at the international organizations, rapid network should be established within this framework. My words should not be regarded as overstepping the international mandate, but such coordination is possible. The major goal in the exchange of information and coordination is to put forward regional and transregional project initiatives in line with Azerbaijan’s interests and create opportunities for their implementation in Azerbaijan. Another goal or proposal is to render assistance, share experience, put forward candidates, when there are vacancies in order to increase the number of the Azerbaijanis working for the international organizations. Azerbaijan needs it as it is strengthening, improving as a state, nation, its influence in the world is growing,” he said.

Deputy Minister noted that there are some anti-Azerbaijan forces in the world, Armenian propaganda is one of them.
“Azerbaijan is expressing its position properly using all means. Azerbaijan’s position on Nagorno Karabakh is based on the international principles and supported by most countries and organizations. Azerbaijan’s position is based on the international law and Baku will never backtrack on the principle of territorial integrity,” he said.

Touching on the problem of refugees and IDPs, Araz Azimov said the problems of refugees and IDPs are solved in Azerbaijan, settlements are being built for them, but these measures are temporary.

“The state is rendering assistance to them, but establishment of settlements should not be regarded as the solution of the problem, this is a temporary measure. Their problem must be solved only with their return,” he said.
