Ambassador Eynulla Medetli told APA that the embassy is contacting with the Azerbaijani community in Crimea, diaspora organizations and especially students in the country.
Eynulla Medetli said so far there is no serious threat to the life, work or education of the Azerbaijanis in Ukraine.
Touching on the recent tension in Crimea, Ambassador said the Azerbaijanis have faced no problems.
“There is no pressure, or threat to the Azerbaijanis, as well as other citizens of the country. The Azerbaijanis in Crimea are closely contacting with one another, we are also contacting with them. No Azerbaijani has been injured in the recent unrests,” he said.
Medetli said they addressed the Azerbaijanis living in Ukraine, especially in Crimea. “We have called on them to keep aloof from clashes. Ukrainian Azerbaijanis’ participation in the processes is their own decision. We consider that like the Tatars in Crimea, Azerbaijanis also demonstrate restraint,” he said.
The diplomat said Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has unique position. “Ukraine’s territorial integrity must not be violated. We support Ukraine’s territorial integrity, inviolability of its borders,” he said.
