Baku. Anakhanum Hidayatova – APA. “Closure of visa section of the British Embassy is something that is not specific to Azerbaijan. This is a new business model that the UK is operating throughout the world,” said British Ambassador to Azerbaijan Irfan Siddiq, APA reports.
“We are concentrating our visa decision making in a few central hubs throughout the world and in this region our hub will be in Istanbul. Now we can use internationally respected private company to offer customer service facilities. This is a company that is a worlds expert in appointment management, customer service, documentation, which we do all of these things for us; manage the appointment, meet with the applicants, do all the documents, manage the payments, everything that has a physical interaction they will do it. Also the company will provide more flexibility. As an embassy we are limited sometimes in what we can do from security perspectives, the way we are operating in the country, a private company can do much more flexible things in terms of its own way of operating.
Azerbaijani customer will have better service, they can have premium opportunities. Sometimes we can introduce new services so that if you don’t want to come to pick up your passport you can have it delivered to you by the currier.
The reason we are doing this is to improve and increase the number Azerbaijani tourists traveling to UK. The company will be paid a private contract the more people it can attract in applications. The new structure enables customer service side to increase and improve, take more people so they can have 10 or 15 thousands Azerbaijanis applying easily. It will not be a restriction, it will be improvement,” he said.
