Ambassador: â€œ22 years ago we did not realize the scope of what happened in Azerbaijan, now we are in the similar situation"

Noting that the continuation of the cooperation will help Ukraine, Ambassador said his country is holding talks with Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

"Baku's statement on the principle of territorial integrity is very important. We are grateful to Azerbaijan for support. We are in the similar position," he said.

As regards the situation in Crimea, the diplomat said Ukraine will continue dialogue with Russia.

"We are thinking of raising the issue at the UN General Assembly. What will happen if we regard what has happened as normal? Someone will remember Kaliningrad, Kuril islands looking at the map. 22 years ago we did not realize the scope of what happened in Azerbaijan, now we are in the similar situation. It seems that the states like people learn from their mistakes," he said.

Alexander Mishchenko also spoke about false Russian media reports. Ambassador said the reports that there are ethnic problems in Ukraine are groundless, underlined that there are no remarks against Azerbaijanis in his country.

"All this is a part of purposeful propaganda of the Russian media," he said.

Ambassador also said that Ukraine is on alert.

"If there is a threat to people's life, military response will be given," he said.
