Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. “Contrary to misunderstandings circulating in Azerbaijan, the British Embassy is not closing the UK visa service in Baku. In fact, the British Embassy is improving the service and making it easier for Azerbaijani nationals to travel to the UK,” says the statement issued by the British Embassy in Azerbaijan.
The statement reads:
“From 1 April, UK visas applications will be processed through a new Visa Application Centre in Central Baku. This will mean that instead of visiting the British Embassy to submit the visa application, applicants will visit the Baku Visa Application Centre instead. This will be a modern, high quality operation, run by an international company with world class customer service standards. It will offer significant advantages to the customer in the procedure for making applications. Full details of the location, contact details and opening hours of the new Visa Application Centre will be published soon.
All applications will continue to be made in Baku. Azerbaijani citizens will not have to travel anywhere else to make their applications. Azerbaijani applicants will continue to receive a high quality service in Baku.
Last year the number of Azerbaijanis who traveled to the UK increased by 20%. We expect more and more Azerbaijanis to travel to the UK in the coming period and this change will mean that it will be easier for us to manage this increased demand and maintain the high quality visa service that we offer. The UK remains one of the top destinations for Azerbaijanis to visit for business, study and tourism. The British Embassy is doing everything it can to support and promote this trend.”
