Strasbourg. Fuad QulubÉ™yli – APA. “Turkey is ready to discuss openly all issues with its neighbors, APA’s Strasbourg correspondent reports. Signing of the protocols, which envisaged reconciliation with Armenia, had a lot of goals. The existing problems impeded to reconciliation. “Armenia has occupied 20 per cent of country’s territory, which is today a member of the Council of Europe.” Upon delivering a speech in the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Turkish foreign minister Ahmad Davutoglu said in response to Armenian deputy’s question. He said that normalization of relations in the South Caucasus depends not only on Armenia and Turkey, but it also depends on normalization of the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan: “Azerbaijan is a member of the Council of Europe. If Armenia occupies 20 per cent of Azerbaijan’s territory, it means a breaching the main values of the organization. If you respect all values of the Council of Europe, I am sure peace in this part of Europe one day will be established. In such case, the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia will thoroughly be improved. Turkey considers surrounding countries friendly ones. If Armenia wants to see around it friendly countries then it should consider Azerbaijan a friendly country as well. In this case, peace and stability in the Caucasus can be established. This is our political goal.”
