Head of Kars municipality: The monument considered the symbol of Turkish-Armenian friendship will be precisely demolished
He could not say when exactly the demolition will start.
“We can not say the exact date, because a monument, not an ordinary building will be demolished. It would be wrong to violate the legislation on historical monuments. Therefore, we have started talks with the companies experienced in this field. I can not say how long the talks will last. After the talks end, they will demolish the monument,†he said.
Bozkush did not rule out that the officials responsible for the erection of the monument will be punished for the violation of law.
“This is a legal issue. It can be wrong if we say something beforehand,†he said.
The construction of the monument introduced as a symbol of Turkish-Armenian friendship started in 2008. Though the monument has been erected, the construction has not been completed. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said while meeting with the head of municipality and other officials in Kars that strange constructions contradicting historical-architectural style must be demolished. He said the monument is strange.
