Azerbaijan-Turkey intergovernmental joint commission holds meeting

Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Abid Sharifov highly appreciated the commission’s activity and spoke about the achievements. He said the establishment of Strategic Cooperation Council will serve the further development of the relations. Underlining that Turkish companies realized great projects in Azerbaijan, Abid Sharifov named the construction of Oghuz-Gabala-Baku water pipeline, Shamkir Reservoir. Noting the importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which is under construction, Abid Sharifov said those who once called it a myth, are now witnessing the realization of this myth.

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for hospitality. Calling Azerbaijan his second motherland Taner Yildiz said there are all opportunities to fulfill the tasks.
“The heads of our states demonstrated political will and put forth concrete goals. We hope that our economic relations will further develop and we will reach our goals,” he said.

Taner Yildiz said Azerbaijan’s achievements make Turkey glad. Minister noted that economic growth was also achieved in Turkey against the background of the world economic crisis and added that the investments made by the Azerbaijani companies in Turkey cause their gratitude. He said one of the tasks put forth by the heads of state is to increase the foreign trade turnover between the two countries by $5 billion.
“I hope we will reach this level,” he said.

The protocol of the 6th meeting of Azerbaijan-Turkey intergovernmental joint commission was signed at the end of the event.
