Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. “There is very little similarity between Southern Sudanese and Nagorno Karabakh self-determination”, said former Armenian foreign minister Alexander Arzumanyan at the press conference on Monday, APA reports quoting News Armenia agency.

“The process of proclamation of the Southern Sudan independence is the next step in the framework of UN anti-colonial declaration adopted in 1960. The people’s self-determination there is considered as an element of liberation from the colonialism”.

4 million people resided in southern part of Sudan, largest country of Africa, voted in the referendum which can lead to the country division.

Arzumanyan reminded that Eritrea and East Timor reached their independence on the basis of above-mentioned UN declaration and probably the Western Sahara will also be independent. “It can be to some extent positive precedent for Nagorno Karabakh, but it has very little similarity with the Karabakh issue. Kosovo, Abkhazia and South Ossetya are good precedents for Nagorno Karabakh, we have many similarities with them”.
