Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov pays official visit to Italy

Baku - APA. Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov paid an official visit to Italy on January 12-13, press service of the Ministry told APA. Azimov delivered speech on “Security in the South Caucasus region in the frame of Euro-Atlantic” at NATO Defense College. Moreover, met with Commandant of the NATO Defense College, Lieutenant General Wolf-Dieter Loeser and perspectives for development of cooperation between the related organizations of our country and these educational institutions were discussed at the meeting.

Within the framework of the visit, Deputy FM held meetings with Italian President’s Ambassador on Foreign Affairs Stefano Stefanini, Head of the Italian Senate’s EU policy commission, at the same time leader of the Italian-Azerbaijani friendship group of the Italian Senate Rossana Boldi and other members of the group. Relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, energy security and other issues of mutual interest were discussed during these meetings.

Azimov made a speech on “South Caucasus security in atmosphere of wide European security” at the University of International Relations in front of representatives and researchers of different state and private organizations and diplomatic corps of Italy.

Finally, Deputy Minister met with leading media representatives of Italy and responded questions of journalists on security in the South Caucasus, conflicts in the region, energy projects and other issues.

Azerbaijani ambassador Italy Vagif Sadigov attended the meetings as well.
