â€œAzerbaijan since Independenceâ€ book presented in Washington DC

The author of the book is Dr. Svante Cornell, well known analyst on Azerbaijan, Research Director and Editor of Central Asia Caucasus Institute and Silk Road Studies Program Joint Center.

Prominent experts on the region, journalists, diplomats and students participated at the panel.

"Azerbaijan always was in the center of international players’ interest because of geopolitical position and strategic importance", said the author of the book. he pointed out that the country has gone a significant way during its independence years, it has developed a lot, but more could have been done, if the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was solved.

Talking about the energy sphere, he said that the country gradually went a long way from being a participant to being one of main players. He said that, being between Russia, Georgia, Turkey and Iran, Azerbaijan has managed to create an image of a stable partner and held its positions in different geopolitical situations.
