Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity has not and will never be a topic of discussion

According to APA, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in his speech at the XI Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, in Istanbul.

The President noted that successful policy or economic development of any country is possible in conditions of stability. "Azerbaijan has a long established political stability. But unresolved conflict, the occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia are the focus of a very large regional threat. In the ancestral land of Azerbaijan Karabakh and adjacent areas was carried out policies of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis, more than one million Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced persons from their native land. 20 percent of lands of Azerbaijan are under occupation of Armenia, and this unjustness continues throughout many years" â€“ Ilham Aliyev said.

The President noted that despite the fact that international organizations, in particular, the United Nations and its Security Council adopted four resolutions related to solving the issue, and these resolutions provides for the unconditional withdrawal of Armenian forces from occupied lands, the Armenian side is still does not fulfill these norms of international law and continues its an aggressive policy.

Organization of Islamic Conference and other international organizations have adopted similar resolutions. "Of course, this is a very solid basis for a just solution for the issue on the legal plane. But in reality we do not see any progress and Azerbaijan over the years suffers from this occupation. Of course, we will not accept this position. We will restore our territorial integrity. We try to resolve it through negotiations, by peaceful ways. Azerbaijanâ€™s territorial integrity is recognized by all countries in the world, and Azerbaijanâ€™s territorial integrity is not and will never be a topic for discussion", - President said.

On the other hand, the unresolved conflicts could not create major obstacles to our economic development.â€ If this conflict wouldnâ€™t exist, the development of our country, as well as issues of regional cooperation, of course would develop more successfully and rapidly", - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev emphasized.
