APA reports quoting Turkish News agencies that along with 10 member countries, Iraq, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Northern Cyprus attended the assembly as guests.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon, Kyrgyzstan’s President for a transitional period Roza Otunbayeva, Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Afghanistan’s President Hamid Karzai, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Karim Masimov are attending the Summit. Other member countries – Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are represented on a low level.
Turkish President, who hosts the Summit, welcomed the attendees at “Chiragan†palace. The assembly began with Turkish national anthem and Gul’s keynote speech.
