Chairman of State Duma Committee: â€œInternational public opinion related to Nagorno Karabakh conflict is on Azerbaijani sideâ€

Viktoriya Dementyeva - APA. â€œInternational public opinion related to Nagorno Karabakh conflict is on the Azerbaijani side and supports the territorial integrity of this state, accepts the fact of occupation of the regions entered the jurisdiction of this countryâ€, Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Alexei Ostrovsky said, APAâ€™s correspondent in Moscow reports. He noted frequent visits to Baku and Yerevan: â€œIn both countries I hear that Russia should solve this conflict. But Russia cannot solve this problem alone. There is a roadmap, president Dmitry Medvedev hold meetings with Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents. The main obstacle before this problem is the mood of Azerbaijani and Armenian nations. Nagorno Karabakh conflict has already grown out of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, but the conflict will remain unsolved until both sides show political willâ€

Ostrovsky noted that there was no need to change OSCE Minsk Groupâ€™s format: â€œIn my opinion, it is a format that can be accepted. But except Russia, nobody in the OSCE Minsk Group is interested in the regulation of this conflict hundred-per-cent. Russia is interested in this issue more than others, because we are neighbors from geographic viewpoint, we have strategic relations both with Armenia and Azerbaijanâ€.

He also took stance on Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Director of the Institute for the CIS countries Konstantin Zatulinâ€™s opinions sounded against Azerbaijan: â€œHe is my deputy at the committee without regard to me. Zatulin shows his interest clearly enough and it would be better to ask questions connected with him not to me but to â€œYedinaya Rossiyaâ€ party represented by himâ€.
