Moscow. Viktoria Dementieva – APA. “Russia’s signing an agreement to extend the term of deployment of the military base in Armenia is logical,” head of the military forecasts center of the Institute for Political and Military Studies Anatoly Tsyganyuk said, APA reports. The analyst substantiated his opinion by the Collective Security Treaty agreement signed between Russia and Armenia.
“Russia has two missile defense systems. One of them is in Russia, the other in Armenia. With this we ensure the control over the region,” he said.

Commenting on the reports that Russia sold C-300 missiles to Azerbaijan, Anatoly Tsyganyuk said this fact had not been confirmed.
“But if the reports are true then this is an attempt to restore the status-quo,” he said.
Commenting on the fact that Russian President first visited Armenia, and then Azerbaijan, the analyst noted that it was because Russia evaluated Armenia more in terms of strategic partner.
“We have got problems with Azerbaijan such as undetermined legal status of the Caspian, Azerbaijan’s joint activity with Georgia within the framework of NATO,” he said.

To APA’s question about Russia’s interests in Gabala radar, Anatoly Tsyganyuk said Russia probably will not extend the term of the agreement on renting Gabala radar.
“We already have a similar system and I think Gabala radar will not be used,” he said.
