Tehran. Suleyman Farzaliyev – APA. “Various conferences were held in Iran, but this conference was devoted to the Republic of Azerbaijan. The importance of the conference was that the Azerbaijani and Iranian scientists, who wrote books about the relations between the two countries and knew the issues related to the region deeply, participated in the conference,” Azerbaijani ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Iran Javanshir Akhundov told APA. Ambassador underlined that scientists from Russia, Georgia and Turkey had attended the conference and spoken about Azerbaijan’s achievements.
“Especially the participation of the university students in the conference was very important. But the conference should not end with articles and speeches. The conference should create a base for the work of the ministries of the two countries, especially foreign ministries. Generally, the conference was organized well,” he said.

Ambassador said he had invited Iranian businessmen to Azerbaijan, the invitation was accepted. “Iranian investors and businessmen accepted my invitation. We are working now on this issue and we wouldn’t like that this invitation has a formal character. I would like the businessmen from Tehran, Tebriz, Erdebil and other cities of Iran come to Azerbaijan and see the development of the country and welfare of the people. Let them see what we achieved during 19 years of independence and compare us with the neighbor countries. I have learned during eight months of my diplomatic mission here that many Iranian businessmen came to Azerbaijan and do their business in different spheres”.

The ambassador spoke about the Iran’s sale of grain to Armenia as well: “I can not say that Iran sold grain to Armenia, but some brokers realize export of agricultural products from Iran to Armenia. Member of the Iranian parliament from Erdebil and head of the Iran-Azerbaijan friendship group, who always supports the national interests of Azerbaijan, also stressed the impossibility of the grain export from Iran to Armenia. This issue needs to be investigated. The government of Iran and most part of the Iranian people supports Azerbaijan and there is a high-level attitude to our people here. The economic, political and cultural relations between the two countries are in a good level and I believe that our foes can not overshadow our relations”.
