Iranian ambassador: â€œDeployment of international peacekeepers in the occupied territories means to officialize the separation of Nagorno Karabakh from Azerbaijanâ€

â€œThe OSCE Minsk Group didnâ€™t reach any progress toward the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict over 19 years. On the contrary, it caused complication of the situation. The Minsk Group doesnâ€™t make an effort for the fair solution to the conflict and it is not able to do that at all. Recent Russian-Armenian agreement dissatisfied Baku and continuous US financial support to the Karabakh separatists also concerns Azerbaijanâ€.

Mohammad Bagir Bahrami expressed opinion about the Madrid principles as well. â€œThere are no clear reports about this project. Deployment of international peacekeepers in the occupied territories means to officialize the separation of Nagorno Karabakh from Azerbaijan. Iran insists in unchanged international borders. Iran voted for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan at UN many timesâ€.

The ambassador said Iran was only neighbor country suffered from the Karabakh conflict. â€œThe Karabakh conflict caused changing of geographical system on Azerbaijan-Iran borders and created serious problems in the realization of a number of important projects, including Khudaferin project. 120 km of 618-km Azerbaijan-Iran borders is under the control of separatists. Therefore Karabakh conflict has a direct relation to the Iranâ€™s national security and interestsâ€.

The ambassador noted that Iran will continue its efforts toward peace and stability in the Caucasus and President Ilham Aliyev gave consent to the Iranian mediatory mission in the process of solution to the Karabakh conflict.
