10th summit of heads of Turkic-speaking states starts in Istanbul –  <font color=red>UPDATED - PHOTOSESSION</font>

Istanbul. Mayis Alizadeh – APA. The 10th summit of the heads of Turkic-speaking states has started in Istanbul. APA’s Turkey bureau reports that the summit is being held in Ciragan palace. Turkish President Abdullah Gul, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, Kyrgyzstan’s Interim President Roza Otunbayeva, Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov are attending the summit. Only the representatives of Uzbekistan are not attending the summit. Making a keynote speech at the summit President Abdullah Gul said the decisions passed at the 9th summit in Nakhchivan played important role in strengthening the cooperation among the Turkic-speaking countries.
“The secretariat of the Turkic-speaking countries’ Coordination Council will be located in Istanbul and function to strengthen the relations among our countries,” he said.

Istanbul Declaration is expected to be signed at the end of the summit. The Declaration envisages declaration of October 3 as the Day of the Turkic-speaking countries, establishment of Turkish Cooperation Council, Fund for Protection of the Turkish Cultural Heritage in Baku, fund for scientific studies and activities, establishment of unity among universities.

The 9th summit of the heads of Turkic-speaking states was held in Nakhchivan last year.
