Dmitry Medvedev: â€œRussia and Azerbaijan should strengthen the economic cooperationâ€

He said the trade turnover between the countries was reduced last year. â€œThere is a positive tendency this year and we need to think about the strengthening of this tendency and to search for new projects and ideasâ€.

The Russian president said leaders of the two countries talked about the new projects and ideas at the face-to-face meeting and proposed to negotiate these projects with participation of the delegations. Medvedev said they mentioned a wide range of issues, including economic relations and regional security at the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that they achieved good results during the meeting of the Russian president and the documents to be signed within the framework of the visit will create healthy basis for the bilateral relations. â€œThese relations are important not only for our countries, but for the regions as well. The constant development of the relations with Moscow is very important and valuable for Baku. It is a strategic partnershipâ€.
