Azerbaijani and Russian presidents start face-to-face meeting

Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva welcomed Russian president Dmitry Medvedev and his spouse Svetlana Medvedeva. Azerbaijani state and government representatives have been presented to Medvedev and members of Russian delegation had been presented to Aliyev. Azerbaijani and Russian presidents started face-to-face meeting after the official welcoming. ITAR TASS reports that opening negotiations the president Aliyev said that the agenda was rich enough: â€œYour visit to Azerbaijan is very important from standpoint of development of our relations, especially, we have topics needing discussionâ€.

Azerbaijani president described the relations between the countries as sincere, affectionate neighborhood and strategic partnership relations. Medvedev agreed with such assessment: â€œI hope that, we will discuss existing situation of our bilateral relations, regional agenda, international issues and sign important documents. Our constant meetings in Baku and in Moscow, as well as during other summits are the basis of close, transparent and friendly relationsâ€.
