President Ilham Aliyev receives ambassadors of Muslim countries in Azerbaijan on occasion of month of Ramadan

Expressing his best wishes to the participants of the meeting on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, President asked them to convey his sincere greetings and congratulations to the heads of their states and governments.

President said the month of Ramadan embodied the unity of all Muslims living in the world and underlined the necessity of strengthening Islamic countriesâ€™ friendship and brotherhood and Islamic solidarity. Noting the importance of increasing the number of the embassies of the Muslim countries in Azerbaijan the head of state said the number of the republicâ€™s embassies in the Muslim countries was increasing.

Speaking about the successful bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Islamic countries and the cooperation on the international level Ilham Aliyev noted that a number of events had been held in Baku through the Organization of Islamic Conference. The head of state noted that Baku was chosen the capital of Islamic culture in 2009 and said our country contributed to the Islamic solidarity.

Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict, President Ilham Aliyev said Muslim countries showed fair position on the settlement of the problem. Expressing confidence in the solution to the conflict within the territorial integrity of our country and on the basis of international law, the head of state called on the international community to strengthen pressure on occupant Armenia. President Ilham Aliyev wished peace and welfare to the countries represented by the ambassadors on the occasion of Holy Ramadan and delivered best wishes to the participants of the meeting.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ismatullah Irgashov congratulated President Aliyev and Azerbaijani people on behalf of ambassadors and diplomatic representations of the Muslim countries in Azerbaijan and wished peace and welfare them. Emphasizing irreplaceable contribution by national leader Heydar Aliyev to the achievements of Azerbaijan in all spheres, the ambassador pointed out the continuously strengthening position of our country in the world as a result of balanced policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev. Irgashov said Azerbaijan was a country which was securing the stability and dynamic development in the South Caucasus. The ambassador emphasized that position of the Muslim countries toward the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict remains unchanged.

The diplomat said Azerbaijan, outstanding with its active position in the Organization of the Islamic Conference, was an obvious example of religious tolerance and dialogue between the civilizations.
