Turkish General Staff Chief: â€œRestoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is especially important for peace and stability in the regionâ€

Touching upon the Turkish-Armenian relations, Koshaner said steps toward the normalization of the relations have not been fruitful yet, but the process was continued. Koshaner noted that restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is especially important for peace and stability in the region.

The newly-appointed chief of staff made series interesting comments on other issues as well. He said people were concerning over releasing and pardoning the terrorists. â€œThanks to freedom given by the laws, the terrorists can live easily among the people and therefore it becomes difficult for the security forces to make differences between the ordinary citizens and terroristsâ€.

Koshaner added that opportunities created by the local authorities in northern Iraq made it easy for PKK to exist. The chief of General Staff said that Army would continue its duties despite recent campaigns against the well-known military figures. â€œDespite any unfair criticism, accusations and slanders against the Army, it will disciplinary continue to struggle for unity of our state and nation. Some forces are trying to present unconfirmed claims against the Armed Forces and some figures as a truth to the public communityâ€, said the General.
