Veronika Kotek: â€œAzerbaijan has not asked PACE yet to observe the parliamentary electionsâ€ - <font color=red>UPDATED</font>

â€œAs usual, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe observes the parliamentary elections. Despite that PACE makes special decision regarding each countryâ€. Kotek said the decision was made after the government of the country conducting elections addressed PACE for observation. â€œAzerbaijan has not sent such message to PACE. I think it is too earlyâ€.

â€œWe have a plan for assisting the Government of Azerbaijan in the pre-election period. In April, we held first event within this plan. It was an event dedicated to the participation of the women in the elections as a candidate and voterâ€, said Kotek and added that they were preparing for the next events,

The Special Representative said they would carry out certain events for the journalists as well because they had a great role in coverage of the election campaign.

Kotek said some of the events would be organized together with the Venice Commission. â€œWe donâ€™t speak about any legislative act. We are speaking about the fulfillment of existing legislation. The Venice Commission is considering to organize some events in the region at the same timeâ€.
