OSCE Secretariat representative Manuel Marion: â€œI fully support the steps done in the modernization of policing in Azerbaijanâ€

Victoria Dementieva â€“ APA. â€œThe OSCE has been busy in assisting participating States in changing their vision of policing from just being a State institution to become a full service to the peopleâ€, said Deputy Head of Strategic Police Matters Unit of the OSCE Secretariat Manuel Marion addressing the International Community Policing Conference in Baku. â€œAs an important part of the long process to introduce community policing in Azerbaijan, the Law on Police in Azerbaijan was recently amended, to facilitate the introduction of community policing in all police units. That is very important step. Within the legal framework we can deduct that now we are in a better position to adopt international standards with the purpose of making the police a full public service where the civil society can be engaged. Azerbaijan has started the long process. I fully support the steps done in the modernization of policing and I reiterate my encouragement to go further in this directionâ€.
