STRATFOR Chief Executive: â€œAmerican public doesnâ€™t understand the importance of Azerbaijan to the USâ€

â€œUS is preoccupied with many other issues and has not yet had a chance to address this one. But USA is very grateful for the help of Azerbaijan in Iraq and Afganistan and as these wars end US will be spending more time paying attention to the regional problemsâ€.

STRATFOR CEO said there were enough bases for the development of US-Azerbaijan relations. â€œOf course, Azerbaijan produces a lot of oil and US is interested inâ€. Answering the question about his countryâ€™s support to the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, George Friedman said he didnâ€™t think that US understood this issue clearly. â€œI donâ€™t think US understands this issue clearly. I think the question on Nagorno-Karabakh is not something that is American public understands. It doesnâ€™t understand the importance of Azerbaijan to the US and I donâ€™t think they understand the issue how important it is for Azerbaijan. The reason I am here is to learn more about this and to understand it betterâ€.
