Fiorello Provera told journalists that the purpose of his visit to Azerbaijan - to enhance cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan and other countries of South Caucasus within the framework of “Eastern Partnership†program.
Saying that he is a supporter of peaceful solution to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, in the framework of inviolability of borders of states and international law norms, Provera touched upon Israel-Turkey relations as well. He noted that incident should be approached from two angles: “First of all, it was a humanitarian action. On the other hand, the question must be viewed from the standpoint of Israel’s security. Gaza should be assisted, at the same time, Israel’s security must be ensuredâ€.
