PACE summer sessionâ€™s agenda scheduled

PACE bureaus and political groups will hold their traditional meetings on the first day of the session, APA reports quoting AzerTAc news agency. The Summer Session will discuss the budgets of the Council of Europe for 2011 and the activity of the Assemblyâ€™s Bureau.

Chairperson of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, Minister for Foreign Affairs of â€œthe former Yugoslav Republic of Macedoniaâ€ Antonio Milososki will address the session. He will inform the participants about the activity of his organization and answer their verbal and written questions.

On June 22, the European parliamentarians will elect the judges to the European Court of Human Rights with respect to Germany and Malta. They will discuss legal remedies for human rights violations in the North Caucasus, the situation in Kosovo and the role of the Council of Europe and the situation of Romanians in Europe.

The PACE Summer Session will also highlight â€œThe state of democracy in Europeâ€, â€œThe political consequences of the economic crisisâ€, â€œDemocracy in Europe: crisis and perspectivesâ€, â€œThe functioning of democratic institutions in Azerbaijanâ€, â€œForests: the future of our planet?â€, â€œIslamism and Islamophobiaâ€ and other issues.

There will be addresses by the President of â€œthe former Yugoslav Republic of Macedoniaâ€ Gjorgje Ivanov, the Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Ãukanovic, the head of the UNâ€™s Alliance of Civilizations Jorge Sampaio and Sociologist Alain Touraine.
