PACE summer session’s agenda scheduled

PACE bureaus and political groups will hold their traditional meetings on the first day of the session, APA reports quoting AzerTAc news agency. The Summer Session will discuss the budgets of the Council of Europe for 2011 and the activity of the Assembly’s Bureau.

Chairperson of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, Minister for Foreign Affairs of “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” Antonio Milososki will address the session. He will inform the participants about the activity of his organization and answer their verbal and written questions.

On June 22, the European parliamentarians will elect the judges to the European Court of Human Rights with respect to Germany and Malta. They will discuss legal remedies for human rights violations in the North Caucasus, the situation in Kosovo and the role of the Council of Europe and the situation of Romanians in Europe.

The PACE Summer Session will also highlight “The state of democracy in Europe”, “The political consequences of the economic crisis”, “Democracy in Europe: crisis and perspectives”, “The functioning of democratic institutions in Azerbaijan”, “Forests: the future of our planet?”, “Islamism and Islamophobia” and other issues.

There will be addresses by the President of “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” Gjorgje Ivanov, the Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Ðukanovic, the head of the UN’s Alliance of Civilizations Jorge Sampaio and Sociologist Alain Touraine.
