Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev: The recent resolutions and political steps have put Armenia in a great anxiety

Baku â€“ APA. â€œNagorno Karabakh conflict is a major problem we face. Weâ€™ve been working tirelessly in this regard. Weâ€™ve been demonstrating a principal position since the start of the negotiations. We havenâ€™t taken a step back from our principal stance. It is based on international legal norms, resolutions and decisions of international organizations,â€ Azerbaijanâ€™s President Ilham Aliyev while delivering a speech at the ceremony marking May 28th - Republic Day at the Buta Palace, APA reports quoting AzerTAC.
â€œWeâ€™ve been exploiting all our potentialities to ensure the restoration of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity. And the opposite sideâ€™s position is based on their illusions, which, of course, cannot be the basis for the settlement of the conflict. And what strengthens our position is resolutions by the UN Security Council and other international organizations. This conflict must be solved on the basis of Azerbaijanâ€™s territorial integrity. All occupied territories of Azerbaijan must be liberated. Azerbaijani IDPs must return to their native lands, including the Nagorno-Karabakh. And what for Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian and Azerbaijani communities must live here on the basis of a high autonomy status, within just one Azerbaijani state. This is a principal position, and it is based on the international legal norms and principles accepted by the international community,â€ President said.

â€œAs you know, recently the Organization of the Islamic Conference has adopted very positive and strong resolutions on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. They fully support Azerbaijanâ€™s positions, they back justice. A week ago the European Parliament adopted a resolution making references to the international legal norms and describing Armenia as an aggressor state. It clearly points out that it is unacceptable to violate a stateâ€™s borders by using force, and that it is unacceptable to reconcile yourself to a status-quo. It declares that this situation of no peace and no war cannot go on, that Azerbaijanâ€™s lands must be freed from occupation. And it is what makes our position stronger and once again shows that the international community â€“ both the Muslim world and the European Union - share a single stance, a just stance. We are very well aware that these resolutions and political steps have put Armenia in a great anxiety, the Armenians saw big blows hit their propaganda and such a hysterical reaction from them is a vivid evidence of this. If it was not so, Armenian officials would not have made such silly and groundless comments on the European Parliamentâ€™s resolution. They say that this resolution contradicts the Madrid principles. On the contrary, it completely meets the Madrid principles and norms of international law. And this proves that Armenia really got very hysterical and need doing something concrete to get out of this situation.
The international communityâ€™s assessment of the illegal and so-called elections held by the separatist regime in Nagorno-Karabakh once again proves that the world does not and will never accept separatism and recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.â€

The Azerbaijani Leader noted Minsk Group co-chairs, European Union, Organization of the Islamic Conference, neighboring countries, Council of Europe, all international community condemned the so-called elections and reiterated their support for Azerbaijanâ€™s territorial integrity.
â€œUnder these circumstances, Azerbaijan will continue its principled position. Our stance is based on international legal norms and we will never backtrack from it.â€

President said despite all this the fact of occupation had not ended.
â€œOur territories are under occupation. The occupation continues and Armeniaâ€™s non-constructive and hypocritical behavior in the negotiations shows that Armenia only wants to temporize. Armenia wants to deceive the international mediators as if it is participating in the negotiations. The main reason of their participation in the negotiations is to temporize. But they will not achieve anything by temporizing, because time does not work for them. Ongoing processes in the region once more show that no cooperation with participation of Armenia is possible in the region without resolution of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenia hoped that Turkey-Armenia borders would be opened and Karabakh issue would be put aside. But life and Turkeyâ€™s principled position foiled all their plans. A few months ago Armenian President said during a foreign visit that he would invite Azerbaijani President to the opening of Turkey-Armenia borders. It was a groundless and absurd statement, as everybody except him understood that Turkey-Armenia border can not be opened unless Nagorno Karabakh conflict is resolved. Life showed this once more,â€ he said.

Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijanâ€™s military potential makes it available to fulfill any task successfully and in a short period of time.
â€œSimply we do not want military solution. But this variant has never been excluded and we have always expressed out views about this openly. I do not doubt that we will restore our territorial integrity, we have all sufficient grounds to do this,â€ President said.
