Azerbaijani Minister of Justice meets CoE Deputy Secretary General

Baku-APA. Azerbaijani Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov has today met Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, APA reports quoting AzerTAc.
The minister said his country attaches “great†importance to cooperation with the Council of Europe. He highlighted the Azerbaijani government`s reforms to strengthen the protection of human rights and freedoms in the country.
Mammadov in particular emphasized the government measures towards modernizing the juvenile justice system and increasing professional skills of judges and candidate judges through trainings at the Justice Academy.
De Boer-Buquicchio praised Azerbaijan`s achievements since the country became a member of the organization. She emphasized the Azerbaijan-CoE cooperation, describing it as effective.
COE`s Deputy Secretary General also hailed efforts made by the Azerbaijani government to improve penitentiary system.
They also discussed ways of fighting human trafficking.
Azeri Deputy Minister of Justice Togrul Musayev was present at the meeting.
