Azerbaijan President Receives UN Deputy Secretary General

Baku – APA. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received a United Nations delegation led by Deputy Secretary General Asha-Rose Migiro, APA reports quoting “AzerTAc” news agency.
Migiro, who is in Baku to attend the 7th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Equality between Women and Men, conveyed greetings of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to the Azerbaijani leader.
She said the UN Secretary General was “well aware” of economic development in Azerbaijan.
Migiro thanked President Ilham Aliyev for his message to the conference participants.
Recalling her meeting with Azerbaijan’s first lady, the Deputy Secretary General praised efforts of Mehriban Aliyeva and the Azerbaijani government to improve children’s healthcare.
The Head of State highlighted the importance of the 7th conference of Ministers responsible for Equality between Women and Men, expressing hope the event would contribute to general situation on gender equality in all participating countries, including Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev recalled his meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon when the latter was Korea’s Foreign Minister.
The Head of State thanked for the UN Secretary General’s greetings and asked Migiro to reciprocate his greetings to him.
