Azerbaijani banks see sharp rise in profit

Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. Azerbaijani bank system’s total pre-tax profit made AZN 113.10 million for January-April, 2013, up 6.5 times from a year ago, said the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

During January-April, interest incomes made AZN 508.07 mln, interest expenditures – AZN 256.54 mln and consequently, interest profit was equal to AZN 251.53 mln. At the same time, non-interest incomes stood at AZN 131.16 mln, non-interest expenditures – at AZN 232.13 mln and non-interest loss – at AZN 100.97 mln.

Note that in January-April, 39 banks operated in profit, 4 - in losses. Profits made AZN 113.49 mln, losses – AZN 7.48 mln.
