Offers related to the project, which realization will take 3 years, have already been presented to the Azerbaijani side. Deputy FM Mahmud Mammadguliyev told APA that the offers are about Azerbaijan’s accession to the WTO:
“One of them is connected with export subsidies. Thus, the organization demands us to take the obligation on not to apply export subsidies. We yet do not use such subsidies. We do not give any external subsidy to products. We want to learn negative and positive sides of the project regarding Azerbaijan”.
“The second is related to anti-dumping issues and such matters are very specific. We want to conduct very serious researches on thus issue. Unfortunately, we still do not have such chance. However, we can carry out this together with USAID in the second project. Besides, our experts can learn from it and it may be a good experience for them”, noted Mammadguliyev.
He also added that issue on accession to the WTO would be of great importance in the new project: “I think this is a right step. If we want to develop non-oil sector of Azerbaijan, first we should develop agriculture. Because we have a wide potential and majority of population is engaged in this sphere. Azerbaijan has enough opportunities to meet the domestic demand and export its products to abroad. This project can be considered as the continuation of the previous one, but at the same time, it will comprise new components”.
