Azerbaijan and Iranian customs guards discuss problems at border-crossing points

The Iranian side said that activities are being carried out to eliminate delays faced by Azerbaijani citizens at border-crossing points while crossing to Iran and the country would install X-ray inspection equipment at Astara checkpoint in the near future. This equipment will accelerate the inspection of the goods.

They reached an agreement on break times, including the list of holidays of both sides to continue intensive crossing of goods, means of transport, as well as passengers.

The Azerbaijani side drew attention to the problems over crossing of light vehicles permanently registered in Azerbaijan to Iran. The Iranian side said that delays faced by Azerbaijani citizens crossing to Iran by their own vehicles are related to insurance companies inspecting motor vehicles. Termination of the licenses of these companies causes problems. The Iranian side said they would resolve this problem in the near future.
