Azerbaijan-based banks see 29% growth in assets

Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. As of May 1, 2013, Azerbaijan-based commercial banks’ assets stood at AZN 18,979.76 mln, up AZN 4,237.84 mln or 28.9% from year earlier.

According to Central Bank of Azerbaijan, the assets have increased by AZN 1,336.31 mln or 7.6% in January-April, 2013.

Most of assets were loans given to clients. So, such loans made AZN 11,887.3 mln. Moreover, AZN 1,604.0 mln was investments, AZN 1,308.9 mln – correspondent accounts, AZN 669.0 mln – loans and deposits for financial sector, AZN 766.7 mln – cash funds and AZN 2,743.8 mln – other assets.

AZN 8,415.4 mln of liabilities were deposits, AZN 5,448.0 mln – loans and deposits from financial sector, AZN 2,401.7 mln – other liabilities and AZN 2,714.6 mln – capital.
