He also did not exlcude the change of the design of banknotes in future: “However, currently this issue is not on the agenda”.
Rustamov commented on the recent media reports regarding new design of manats: “They are rumors and do not reflect reality. Design of currencies is changed in the world's leading countries every 8-10 years and this is a normal process. Central Bank of Azerbaijan considers this issue with the government and the Monetary Reform Commission and in case if new decision is passed, that will be a joint decision”.
He added that it was not expected to derive coins, including small denomination coins from the circulation in Azerbaijan.
