Economic integration among Turkic states must be strengthened, Deputy Chairman of Türkiye's Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Kürşad Zorlu told journalists in Baku, APA reports.
Kürşad Zorlu stated that global vulnerabilities are increasing and countries are facing a number of geopolitical risks.
According to him, regional integration projects are of particular importance in such a period: “Economic integration among Turkic states is of great importance not only in terms of our regional cooperation but also for global trade.”
Zorlu noted that the combined gross domestic product of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States has reached $2.4 trillion. In his opinion, this figure has given the organization an important position in the global economy.
The AK Party deputy chairman particularly emphasized the importance of the Middle Corridor. He noted that Türkiye intends to further develop this project.
Zorlu also touched upon the Development Road Project planned to be implemented with Iraq. He said that the implementation of the Hejaz Railway Project through Syria could create new opportunities to connect the Middle Corridor with the Southern Corridor.
Kürşad Zorlu also recalled that the upcoming 13th Summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States will be held in Ankara. He emphasized that Türkiye is making intensive preparations for the summit together with other member states.
He also announced that a Digital Partnership Agreement aimed at increasing trade among Turkic states has been signed.
Zorlu stated that the establishment of a common foreign trade platform is planned for the next stage. Noting that Türkiye has developed a project called “Karvan” for this purpose, Zorlu said that proposals from other Turkic states are also being considered.
According to him, once the digital platform becomes operational, companies in Turkic states will have the opportunity to present their products both in one another's markets and in global markets.
