The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised its forecasts for Azerbaijan's balance of payments current account surplus for 2026–2027, APA-Economics reports, citing the Fund's report.
According to the updated forecasts, Azerbaijan's current account surplus is expected to account for 11.3% of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2026 and 9.8% in 2027.
In its previous forecasts released in May, the IMF estimated these figures at 9.7% and 5.4%, respectively.
Thus, the Fund has increased its forecast for Azerbaijan's current account surplus by 1.6 percentage points for 2026 and 4.4 percentage points for 2027.
Note that in the first half of 2026, Azerbaijan's balance of payments current account surplus amounted to $4.7 billion, or 12.4% of GDP.
