In the first half of 2026, the volume of cashless payments in Azerbaijan reached 53.1 billion manats, President of the Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA) Zakir Nuriyev said at the fintech forum of Turkic states held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the growth trend in cashless payments recorded in 2025 is continuing this year.
“Based on the results of the first six months of 2026, the volume of cashless payments has already reached 53.1 billion manats. This indicates that the record figure registered last year will be renewed by the end of this year,” Z. Nuriyev noted.
The ABA president said that expanding cashless payments remains one of the main priorities in terms of developing a cashless economy in the country.
According to him, in the next stage, expanding the use of the Instant Payments System and other digital solutions, as well as developing open banking, will be of particular importance.
“Combining the infrastructure and customer base of banks with the technological capabilities of fintech companies will help deliver new services to a wider audience. Our main expectation is that this cooperation will translate into more convenient services for citizens and more cost-effective payment acceptance for entrepreneurs,” Z. Nuriyev emphasized.
