Paul Davis: USAID will not cut budget for Azerbaijan next year

Baku. Elnur Huseynguluyev – APA-Economics. The United States Agency for International Development’s 2009 budget for Azerbaijan will not be less than this year’s, USAID/Azerbaijan Mission Economist, Dr. Paul Davis, told reporters.
He added that the 2009 budget is being discussed in the head office.
According to him, the budget will go to economy, democracy and healthcare related projects next year too.
USAID’s 2008 budget for Azerbaijan was $13 million.
USAID has invested $284 million in Azerbaijan since 1992. USAID-funded projects are designed to support enhanced macroeconomic stability; improved public expenditure efficiency; improved financial sector linkages for the micro, small and medium enterprises sectors; strengthened enterprise competitiveness; improved health care service delivery; strengthened democratic processes; and robust civil society institutions.
