Japan has to date allocated $729.437 million to Azerbaijan

Ismayilli. Shahnezer Bashirov - APA. The Government of Japan has extended $729.437 million within the Official Development Assistance to Azerbaijan, said Mr. Hideomi Nakajima, Charge d’Affaires ad interim of Japan to Azerbaijan, in the opening ceremony for a water reservoir in Ismayilli.
He added that the Japanese government launched Grassroots and Human Security Assistance Project in Azerbaijan in 2000.
According to him, this grant programme has been available for small projects undertaken by NGOs, medical or educational institutions, and local municipalities.
Up to now, Japan has allocated in total $7.324 million for 106 projects in Azerbaijan.
He said Japan’s Official Development Assistance to the Republic of Azerbaijan covers large projects, including agricultural improvement, power plants, increase of food production, societal, cultural and human resources development and so on.
He said the projects have to date spent $729.437 million and work is under way.
