Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that ensuring voting for millions of Ukrainians living abroad and citizens in territories under Russian control is one of the main challenges in holding elections in the country, Zelenskyy told in an interview with CBC News, APA reports.
“How do you want to hold elections? What elections? How can elections be held with 9 million people abroad? Nine million. Usually, around 500,000 people voted abroad.
What will you do with the people living in the occupied territories? Will they vote? How will they vote? Who will monitor their voting? There are Russian troops there. How can all this be done?” Zelenskyy said.
According to Zelenskyy, ensuring the voting rights of Ukrainian citizens living abroad and voters in the occupied territories is among the key issues in holding elections.
