Baku-APA. Sweden will open an embassy in Qatar on Wednesday, according to a government press release on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
Sweden's Minister for Trade Ewa Bjorling is visiting Doha in Qatar Wednesday to inaugurate the new Swedish Embassy and hold meetings with Qatari government representatives. Bjorling will be accompanied by a Swedish business delegation, said the press release.
"This is an exciting time to open an embassy in Doha. Qatar is experiencing dynamic social and economic development. It is important That Sweden is represented on the ground to conduct political dialogue and to promote Swedish exports," it said.
The government said that the new embassy will focus on the promotion of Sweden and assist Swedish companies to expand in Qatari market, and also to promote Sweden as an attractive destination for long-term investments.
Until now, Sweden's relations with Qatar have been handled by its embassy in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
