Baku. Rufat Ahmadzada – APA. Investigation of former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili’s activity and his criminal prosecution will not affect the relations of Georgia with other countries as well as its integration into the European Union, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili made a statement, APA reports quoting ITAR-TASS.
Garibashvili called “political speculation” the predictions on worsening relations with the West in case of arrest of the former President. “The issues related to Saakashvili cannot affect our relations to any countries. Everyone has to wait for the court's decision", he said.
On August 2, Tbilisi City Court issued a pre-trial detention term for former President Mikhail Saakashvili for the duration of an investigation against him on power abuse charges.
