France heads defense council on Middle East, Ukraine crises

Baku-APA. French President Francois Hollande on Wednesday reiterated the necessity to cease-fire in Gaza "as soon as possible" and to bolster international cooperation to end the Ukrainian crisis, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

In a statement posted in the presidency office website, Hollande "expressed ... his deep concern about the situation in the Middle East and reiterated his commitment to make every effort to reach with the best delay, a cease-fire in Gaza and Israel."

Conflicts in Ukraine also topped the defense council during which the head of state called for boosted international cooperation "to create the conditions for political dialogue and to fix the country's crisis."

Furthermore, Hollande pointed to the necessity to provide evidence on last week's fatal crash of Malaysian plane in east Ukraine in order to "draw all the consequences."

As world leaders are working to succeed diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting dialogue between Kiev and Moscow, two Ukrainian fighter jets were reportedly shot down in eastern Ukraine by insurgents.
