A new source of the U.S. State Department's suspended financial aid to the Georgian government has been revealed, the State Department made a statement in this regard, APA reports.
According to the official statement, from now on Washington will provide material support to non-governmental organizations operating in Georgian territory and mass media outlets that implement information policies independent of the government.
Note that tensions in relations with the U.S. government emerged after the Georgian Parliament adopted a draft law on Foreign Influence.
The U.S. side made an official statement and said that this law was adopted under the influence of Russia.
It was also noted that this document will seriously affect the integration of Georgia into NATO and the allocation of financial assistance to the government of this country.
Recall that according to the Foreign Influence Law, non-governmental organizations and mass media operating in Georgia must enter information about financial sources into the register created for this purpose.
