Ukrainian leader: Unfortunately we are not accepted into NATO

"Removing the issue of Ukraine's membership in NATO from the negotiations is a great gift to Russia. So far, the United States has been opposed to our accession to the Alliance," said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference in Oslo with Jonas Gahr Støre, APA reports citing Censor.NET.

"The United States, as NATO’s key ally, does not support Ukraine’s NATO membership. This remains the case today. I believe that this should not simply be handed to the Russians. In my view, removing this issue from the negotiations is a major concession. I believe this is wrong," he emphasized.

The Head of State also commented on Putin's ultimatums regarding Ukraine, in particular, non-alignment with NATO.

"We have always said that we do not know what we are discussing, it is an ultimatum, not a proposal to end the war. If this was a NATO issue and it meant neutrality outside the NATO bloc, then unfortunately we are not accepted into NATO, although we want to be and this would solve many issues. Instead of everything that is being discussed about Ukraine's defense, joining NATO would solve a lot of things," Zelenskyy added.
