NATO covers Europe and Northern America, the alliance will remain as the Northern American and European alliance. Attracting countries to the membership from the Asian continent and turning it into a global organization is not on the agenda and no one thinks about it, said NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at the briefing organized prior to the meeting of the defense ministers of the alliance, APA reports.
“Our region faces global threats and challenges. This includes cybersecurity and terrorism, also concerns arise from China’s rise. China invests heavily in modern weaponry, uses threatful rhetoric against its neighbors, threatens them, and approaches Russia. Therefore our Strategic Conception approved last year characterizes China as a threat to our values, security, and interests,” noted Stoltenberg.
